Pay taxes or face license cancellation: Punjab minister to bus operators


Chandigarh: Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Monday ordered bus operators defaulting on road tax to pay their debts at the earliest otherwise they could face having their licenses revoked or the non-inclusion of vehicles in the new schedule.

Chairing a transport department review meeting here, Bhullar directed officials to focus on increasing revenue for the department so PRTC, Punjab Roadways and Punbus can rise to the top to bring home the bacon .

He also asked officials to ensure biometric attendance of officials and employees for hassle-free services.

Directing officials to prioritize issuing bus permits to the state’s unemployed youth and ensuring that the process is carried out according to policy in a transparent manner, the minister called for an investigation into the matter. to the illegal extension of route permits.

Asking officials to ensure that public and private buses stop at bus stops, he said strict departmental action will be taken against offending employees.

Bhullar asked Principal Secretary K Siva Prasad to initiate a bus service on the Patti-Mata Chintpurni-Jawala Ji route for pilgrims.

State Transport Commissioner Vimal Kumar Setia, Transport Director with Doctor, Punbus, Amandeep Kaur, MD, PRTC, Parneet Shergill, Additional State Transport Commissioner Amarbir Singh Sidhu and other senior officials from the department were present.
