Easter 2020 payment dates for Universal Credit, Tax Credits, PIP and Child Benefit

People receiving benefits can expect payment dates to vary over the Easter weekend.

Normal financial transactions are to be suspended over the extended bank holiday weekend from Good Friday to Easter Monday, which means payment dates will vary.

Most social benefits, including Universal Credit, must be paid into your account on the last business day before your usual payment date if that falls on a weekend or holiday.

This will vary depending on the benefit you receive and when it is normally paid, reports Birmingham Live.

Here are all the dates you need to know.

Universal Credit – Easter Payment Dates

Universal Credit is paid every four weeks on the same date, although it varies slightly at Easter.

The date is determined by the arrival of your first payment.

So, for example, if your very first Universal Credit payment arrived on March 12, you will be paid on the 12th of every month thereafter.

The date will be moved in any month where your pay date falls on a weekend or holiday.

The Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is usually paid every four weeks.

Your original decision letter tells you the date of your first payment and the day of the week you will usually be paid.

It would never be arranged for him to fall on a weekend.

But if your payment date falls on a holiday, you will usually be paid before the holiday.

After that, you will continue to be paid as normal. Pay dates will vary during the Easter holidays.

When does the money come in?

Dates may change over the weekend.

Depending on your bank, funds are available after midnight on the day they are due, usually in the early hours of the morning.

Some banks deposit money into your account around 11:30 p.m. so you can withdraw it before midnight on payday. Others will release your funds at midnight or a few minutes later.

But in some cases, you have to wait until 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. and others won’t let you get your money until at least 6 a.m. on payday.

Here are typical payment times for banks:

Clydesdale, Yorkshire – 11:30 p.m. the day before at 12:30 a.m.

Lloyd’s – midnight to 1am

Bank of Scotland – midnight to 1:30 a.m.

Metro Bank – midnight to 2am

Barclays , Cooperative- 1h to 2h

Natwest, RBS, Bank of Ulster, Nationwide – 2h to 3h

Halifax – 3h to 4h

HSBC, Santander – 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

What if your payment does not arrive?

The Department for Work and Pensions told Birmingham Live: ‘If a payment date falls on a public holiday or weekend, customers will be paid on the last working day before the public holiday or weekend.

But if you don’t receive your payment, call the help lines listed below.

It’s important to keep in mind that you may not be able to talk to staff about benefits over the holiday weekend in any case. It depends on the service you are inquiring about.

It’s a good idea to check that you have your money before the start of the holiday weekend.
